Technique Inspiration- Solarisation

Solarisation (or solarization) is a phenomenon in photography in which the image recorded on a negative or on a photographic print is wholly or partially reversed in tone. Dark areas appear light or light areas appear dark.

To create a solarised image I in steered the images to photoshop and added a new adjustment layer. I then used the colour/hue slider and changed the image to blackand white. This then allowed me to use the solarisation setting and quickly create the images.

I really like the outcome and feel it create a mysterious feel to the image. I like the way it's almost colour-less and does add a sense of emotion.

For my final project I don't feel like this is an idea I want to use as I don't think the image would represent what I would want. I don't feel it would show the effect of usin flowers when someone has passed away or the fact we use flowers to symbolise things such as peace and purity. This effect would work better on a more vicious and mysterious project such a a scary collection of images or simple textures and prints.

I decided to create my own solarisation images digitally and see what the outcome was anyway.  I used my own images and used the solarise effect on Photoshop to create these:
